Bald Eagle release at Westover Plantation : A bander was banding Eaglets in a nest along the North Fork of the Shenandoah River in Warren County, VA, and discovered that one of the male Eaglets was unable to stand. It was brought to the Wildlife Center of Virginia, http://www.wildlifecenter.org/ Where it was discovered to have a fracture in its' right leg. The bird was operated on and the fracture was pinned. It healed beautifully and the bird had been flying in one of the center's large flight pens. The Eagle was at the Wildlife Center for 4 months. It has been released at Westover Plantation in Charles City County, VA. The perfect place for it to be set free. There are numerous Eagles nesting and living directly across the river.in a 4,200 acre National Wildlife Refuge. In fact while we were there 2-3 Eagles flew over us. The hope is that this young guy will learn from his fellow Eagles and fly free, thanks to the efforts of the wonderful Wildlife Center of Virginia.
